Trying to sell your home and wondering why no buyers ever go farther than the front door? Here are 4 reasons why this might be happening.
1. You did nothing at all
Although staging the inside of your home is extremely important, staging the outside is just as much a priority. Spend a few hours cleaning up your property to bring the impression that your home is very well cared for. Anything from trimming down the bushes to cleaning junk off of the front porch. Buyers are picky, so don’t give them any reason not to love your home.
2. Too much stuff
We get that life gets in the way sometimes, and that keeping a clean home on the outside and inside can be a difficult task to constantly maintain. But when your house is on the market it’s extremely important. Having too many things inside your home can make the rooms look much smaller. They won’t be able to picture themselves living there while they’re looking at someone else’s clutter. Pack some of the unnecessary things up into boxes and store neatly away. Help them fall in love with your home!
3. Peeling paint
To a buyer, paint is usually very important. Touching up the paint on your home is a very worthy investment. Not that new paint will disguise a home of necessary repairs, but at least it makes it look much more welcoming and updated. Even just painting trim can make a huge and noticeable difference.
4. Outdated
Spending a little bit of money at Home Depot to buy updated fixtures, knobs and other little things can drastically change your home’s appeal. Instead of having 2 out of 4 lights burnt out in the bathroom, replace them and help brighten the room. Replace any loose or wobbly door handles and make sure to patch any holes in the wall. The littlest things can go the longest way.

I agree, curb appeal is really important because it is one of the first things that buyers will notice. Great blog by the way and thanks for sharing!

You make a great point about spending a little bit of money to update fixtures. I need to get a real estate agent to help stage my home. We plan to sell it by May.
