The Well-Traveled Fork has long had a love of food and a commitment to supporting local products. They believe in the Central Oregon culinary scene, and have a passion for bringing that knowledge to visitors and locals alike.
They offer tours, classes and catering. This year, they have begun offering a new walking tour called Follow the Fork that gives visitors a taste of some of Bend’s best eateries. This is a great way to not only see some of the beautiful urban landscape that Bend has to offer but also to try out some of the area’s best restaurants and cafes.
Bend, Oregon has been known for its lively mix of coffee shops, restaurants, food carts, breweries, and bakeries. The walking tours the Well-Traveled Fork offers bring guests to sample some delicious food and drink and to meet some of the owners. The Well-Traveled Fork offers two walking tours:
The Westside Walking Tour
The Westside Walking Tour starts at Backporch Coffee Roasters. Backporch is a small coffee roasting company and café that specializes in micro lot, estate and direct trade coffees. They roast coffee three days a week in small batches for optimum freshness.
Grab a quick coffee before the tour starts. They’re located in Century Center, at 70 SW Century Drive, Suite 130. The driveway is in between U.S. Bank and Dutch Brothers. Make a turn off Century Drive to enter the Century Center complex. The Westside Walking Tour is on Fridays at 10:30 a.m. or by appointment for large groups.
The Downtown Walking Tour
The Downtown Walking Tour begins at Visit Bend, the local tourism bureau. You can find Visit Bend at 750 NW Lavea Road, #160. Parking is free for up to three hours in the downtown parking lot adjacent to the Visitors Center. Entrance is on Lava off of Minnesota. The Downtown Walking Tour is by appointment only.
Walking Tour Information
The tours are appropriate for any age and are a great way to learn about the local food scene. Proper footwear is suggested for each tour, which covers 1 ½ miles. The tours last about 2.5 hours, and is held rain or shine.
Cost: $55 per person. This includes all tastes and samples, and meet and greets with chefs/owners.
