River Rim – Bend, OR

In the advantageous southwest side of Bend, The River Rim community was originally built on the eastern border of the Deschutes River. This area offers something for everyone from its 5-acre wildlife park and the Old Mill district which is bursting of unique shops, trendy galleries, eateries and entertainment.

River Rim is also known for neighborhoods which are suitable for all members of a family, such as lush landscaped yards that brim of barbecues in the warmer months as well as a park with plenty of playground equipment for children.

While River Rim has plenty of single family homes to more upscale homes with access to the Deschutes River, apartment living is sufficient, affordable with various price ranges.

 Neighborhoods

River Rim is a gorgeous neighborhood which was uniquely designed with a large meadow in which wild flowers grow to be enjoyed by all of its residents. Many of the neighborhoods are adjacent to the Deschutes River canyon with river trails and impressive scenic views, shopping centers and theaters close by.

Schools

River Rim area schools are dedicated to educating not only the whole child but also attending to their intellectual development, as well as their social, emotional and physical well-being.

Elk Meadows Elementary School, Cascade Middle School and Summit High School have a competent staff to be sure that your children have all that they need to succeed as well as become educated students.

Outdoor Activities

Since River Rim offers year-round recreation you cannot get bored. One place in particular is River Rim RV Park which offers whitewater rafting along the Deschutes River, swimming, fishing and golf.

Also you will find people hiking and mountain biking within the beautifully scenic Deschutes River Trail (close to many residences) and Shevlin Park. Phil’s Trail Complex offers a high use area of fast single track which is appropriate for mountain biking. In the town of Bend there are also many paved paths and bike lanes available.

The historic site of Old Mill District was once home to a large timber mill. Today this area thrives with a trendy shopping. If you are simply looking for some clean fresh air than there are plenty of walking and biking paths on both sides of the Deschutes River which unites the gorgeous parks you will find in the Old Mill District area.

Located south of downtown, the Old Mill District is on Bend’s Westside (close to the historical neighborhood near Drake Park). To satisfy the most demanding of taste buds you can find every kind of food in either quiet elegant restaurants or unique food carts.

Areas of Interest

Drake Park offers quite a bit for everyone such as concerts, plays, a farmers market and festivals. In the midst of their impressive ponderosa pine trees, such activities offered is their annual Old Fashioned July 4th Celebration.
